The Position:
The Assistant Low Voltage Systems Integrator supports the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of low-voltage systems, including security, access control, CCTV, fire alarms, audio-visual, and basic IT systems. This role is ideal for someone with basic technical skills who is eager to learn and grow in the field of low-voltage systems integration. The Assistant Integrator will work closely with senior team members to ensure that systems are integrated effectively and operate according to project specifications.
Candidate must have solid transportation and be willing to undergo a background check and drug testing.
The Location(s): Fredericksburg, VA
Pay Range: $50k-$60k
Key Responsibilities:
- Support System Design & Integration:
- Attend site walks and meetings with potential customers to understand system design requirements
- Assist in the creation of system integration plans and diagrams
- Help in the selection and preparation of equipment and materials for installation
- Provide support in integrating various low voltage systems under the guidance of senior integrators
- Installation & Configuration:
- Assist in the installation, wiring, cabling, and termination of low voltage systems.
- Help configure and program systems such as security, access control, CCTV, fire alarms, audio-visual, and IT systems
- Participate in testing and troubleshooting systems to ensure proper operation
- Project Coordination:
- Work alongside project managers and senior integrators to execute installation schedules
- Coordinate with vendors and other team members to ensure all necessary tools and materials are available
- Document installation activities and maintain accurate project records
- Customer Support:
- Provide basic technical support to clients, including assisting with troubleshooting system issues
- Assist in conducting client training sessions on system operation and maintenance
- Follow up with clients to ensure their systems are functioning as intended
- Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures during all phases of installation and maintenance
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations
- Participate in training sessions to stay updated on industry standards and best practices
Experience and Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training or certification in electronics, electrical systems, or a related field is a plus
- Experience:
- 1+ year of experience in a technical or installation role, preferably in low voltage systems
- Basic understanding of low voltage systems such as security, access control, CCTV, or audio-visual systems is preferred
- Skills:
- Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills in low voltage systems integration
- Ability to read and understand basic wiring diagrams and technical manuals
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Certifications:
- Entry-level certifications in low voltage systems or electronics (e.g., BICSI, AVIXA) are a plus but not required.
- Must be DCJS certified or be able to obtain a DCJS certification
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in various environments, including construction sites and confined spaces
- The role may involve working in both indoor and outdoor settings, including construction sites and occupied buildings
- Travel to client locations required, sometimes on short notice
